Thank you veterans

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thank you to all of the veterans who have served.

Um, hi?

So I realized today that maybe I've been neglecting this blog lately. Things have been hectic and I just haven't posted. Things of note that have occurred since August: I left my job at the parking garage. I got picked up as a temp less than a week later. My temp job ended at the beginning of October. I was home for a week. I got picked up as a temp again at the same place in a different department. I got let go today as a temp, after being told by my temp boss that she would see me tomorrow. So as of right now I am unemployed unexpectedly. The good thing is that while no longer at the place, I'm still listed as a desirable person for employment there. Turns out, I was let go by a person who has brought in several temps over the last 2 months and not kept a single one of them.

So now I go back to looking and applying for jobs. That, and training the puppy. Crate training, no problem. Obedience training? Well, we're working on it. That, and learning what is a chew toy and what is NOT a chew toy. His robe ball? A chew toy. My favorite black flats? Not so much.

That's really the main things at the moment. I hope to remember to post before another 6 weeks has passed though.

Light the Night

I am participating in the Light the Night walk for Leukemia and Lymphoma research. Two years ago, a friend lost her husband to leukemia and I walked in honor of him. Last year, I missed the walk. This year, I am walking in honor of Joe again. I am posting about this because I need your help. Please consider sponsoring me in my walk. The link for my page is here. Thank you.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Tuesday will be my second anniversary as a married woman. That day two years ago I married the man I love. It was one of those rare perfect August days when the humidity was low, the sun was shining, and there was just enough of a breeze to keep the guests comfortable during the ceremony. We risked a lot and had it outside. There were lots of things that I wished would have happened, and a lot of things we wanted to do, but just weren't able to get done in time. However, it was the perfect day and I wouldn't have asked for a better one. Happy anniversary my love.

New puppy

This weekend, the hubby and I broke one of our cardinal rules. We adopted a puppy. His name is Indiana, Indy for short. Yes, we named the dog Indiana after Indiana Jones. He's a lab mix. We're not sure what all he's mixed with, but whatever it is he will be a large dog. I have not yet taken any pictures of the pup. DH has a couple on his phone, but that doesn't help me for sharing. So I have no pictures to share yet. However, watch for Hurrican Indy updates. So far the damage has included about 6 balls of yarn, 2 books, a VHS tape, a snowglobe from a shelf, and the nerves of Daisy. We're still trying to figure out how he got to a shelf and got the snow globe and the VHS tape that we didn't even remember we had. Looks like weekends will now include the dog park.
